February 1-7, 2021 is all virtual

Extending Our Embrace

February 1 is the start of World Interfaith Harmony Week. Event hosts have organized 9 events and once again Mayor John Tory and the City of Toronto have recognized the week and issued an official proclamation. Canadian Parliament will also be addressed by Steering Committee member and Member of Parliament Yasmin Ratansi.

We have already had a successful Noor Centre hosted event addressing continued systemic Islamophopia in Canada as a way to remember those slain in the Quebec Mosque Shooting. The next day Canada officially announced an Official Day Of Remembrance. Noor is also launching a website and video series many will find of interest. 


February 2nd:  Fostering Harmony In The Community
Cornwall Ontario's World Interfaith Harmony Week Committee hosts Paul McKenna, author of 200 Quotations on Interfaith Dialogue. Paul's recent work was recognized and accepted as a resource by an official World Interfaith Harmony Week web site.   

February 3rd:  Race & Religion:Cultivating Anti Racist Faith Communities
7:00pm - 8:30 pm via Zoom
Participate in an engaging discussion on race, faith and fostering truly inclusive, anti-racist worship, spaces and faith communities. How do we overcome Racism as people of faith? 

February 4th:  Sharing Sacred Spaces
7:00pm - 8:30 pm via Zoom
The Sharing Spaces planning committee is meeting to discuss opportunities to develop interfaith friendships though sharing space, architecture and hosting various faith communities.

February 5th: Interfaith Champion Award Ceremony 
7:30pm to 8:15 pm
Join our Steering Committee as we honour Sid Ikeda, 2021's Interfaith Champion. In order to comply with COVID restrictions, we have turned it into a Zoom event. 

February 7th: Darchei Noam and The Islamic Foundation of Toronto
2:00pm - 3:30
"Time And Timeless Contributions Of Islamic And Jewish Civilizations From Ancient History To Today" 
Join Rabbi Tina Grimber and Imam Yusuf Badat and other speakers on Zoom for a discussion of Time, its waste; its use and preciousness with commentary from traditional religious sources and modern sensibilities.
